Half of parents believe retailers aren't providing a family friendly shopping experience

New research by Lightspeed Research has revealed that just over half of parents (53%) believe retailers are not doing enough to provide a family friendly shopping experience. It has highlighted the top 5 things that make a great shopping experience for families:

  1. Toilets
  2. Nearby parking facilities
  3. Cafe with kids meals
  4. Wide aisles
  5. Child friendly staff

The poll also shows that 1 in 5 people have visited a store just because of the entertainment it provides for families with children. Respondents were asked to nominate their favourite store to visit with the family. Asda and Tesco are the most frequently mentioned, followed by Sainsbury's, Toys R Us, and IKEA.

Most respondents think that family shopping trips are OK, but would not describe them as entertainment. In fact one in five thinks they are more like torture!
