Accessibility is evolving fast

Most businesses would agree that being accessible to consumers is a good thing, and at Kantar our research backs this up.

Accessibility underpins key elements of Kantar’s Blueprint for Brand Growth, letting brands create products, services, and experiences that are meaningfully different and that can predispose more people.

But the notion of accessibility is evolving and ripe for innovation.

Already, some companies are innovating on accessibility, especially through the lens of disability inclusion with clear results. One study found that U.S. companies leading on disability inclusion over a five-year period realized marked business gains over other firms, achieving 1.6x more revenue, 2.6x more net income, and 2x more economic profit.

But accessibility is about more than including those with disabilities. The future of accessibility will move beyond accommodation, toward seamless and AI-driven accessibility, multimodal interfaces, and universal design embedded as a philosophy that influences everything companies do. Given this impending evolution, we need to ask:

How will accessibility evolve in the coming years? How will it intersect with, and impact, inclusivity? And where are the opportunities for brands and companies?

To help leaders navigate the road ahead, Kantar has launched Accessibility 2030, the latest in our series of Foresight Co-Labs. We will explore the leading edge of accessibility, to surface implications across different areas of consumer life, including:
