Project Management, Spain
My daily role is to manage large-scale research projects for Kantar’s clients in Spain. That means I ask for costs, commission suppliers, organise appropriate timings for all departments and ensure compliance, and ensure that the fieldwork is done correctly. I love that I get to different things every day; each project is unique and we have to make sure it is suitable for each client. With each new client we learn new things, and we get to know new markets.
My current job is to coordinate BrandZ fieldwork. My team of five people in Spain coordinates the fieldwork (where we gather the views of thousands of consumers) of all countries in the BrandZ rankings. That is, we commission the agencies that will do the fieldwork, we prepare the quotas files, we translate the approved questionnaires into the local languages, review the scripts in all languages, ensure compliance with the quotas, and when the project is finished we inform the team in India so that they can begin to tabulate the data. For example, this year we are coordinating 240 projects in 27 countries. And asking for data in more than 120 categories. It’s so massive and so interesting!
I have a degree in Political Science, and I have specialised in statistics applied to social sciences and social research techniques. I started working at the company during the summer of 1992. First I was working in the fieldwork department and, when the Project Management department was created, I became part of it.
I like to know that our work serves to help our clients around the world and I like to know that, as members of the BrandZ team, we are an important part of a great Kantar team that is spread across all countries.
